About the History Department
The History Department of Mahabodhi Mahavidyalaya, Nalanda, is deeply rooted in the legacy of one of the world’s greatest ancient centers of learning — Nalanda. The department is committed to fostering historical awareness, critical inquiry, and an appreciation of India’s and the world’s rich cultural and civilizational heritage.
The department offers comprehensive courses on ancient, medieval, and modern history, with special emphasis on the local heritage of Nalanda and its contributions to global knowledge traditions. Students are trained in historical research, analysis, and interpretation, preparing them for careers in academics, civil services, heritage management, archaeology, and more.
